What's realistic near-term

Expect continued state-by-state legalization of natural organic reduction and alkaline hydrolysis in the U.S., broader international adoption following early movers in Europe and parts of Asia-Pacific, and growth in conservation and memorial-forest burial as land trusts recognize burial fees as a viable conservation funding source. Digital memorial tools will likely become a standard add-on rather than a niche choice.

What remains speculative

Cryonics remains scientifically unproven, with no established mechanism for reversing preservation damage or restoring biological function. Concepts like promession (freeze-drying) have struggled for over two decades to move from pilot projects to commercial availability, illustrating that not every proposed technology succeeds at scale.
